About the Mission:

He was 96. Tom was well known in the Clovis and Bovina communities where he raised his family and never met a stranger. Tom was born on July 24, 1929, in Hagerman, New Mexico.

As a young adult, Tom served in the United States Army during the Korean war. He returned to help care for his mother after she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Over his lifetime, Tom invested much of his life in the community and business, Bonds Oil Company. Tom served as mayor of Bovina as well as president of Bovina Chamber of Commerce. He was honored as Bovina’s Man of the Year in 1973 and served as Bull Town Days chairman twice. He was a Shriners International member for 50 years, a 32nd degree Master Mason- past Master, he was inducted into the Royal Court of Jesters, member of Lions Club, a lifetime year member of Elks Lodge, and was on the Parmer County Appraisal Board.
