Millie loved her country and proudly served in the US Marine Corps, during WWII. She enlisted in Boston, at the age of twenty, one of the first women to join the Marines. She served as a Stenographer. In August of 2024, Millie was recognized for her service to Quincy and her country, at the dedication of the Lone Sailor Memorial, at Marina Bay. She was an active member of the Marine Corps League William R. Caddy Detachment #124 and the Cyril P. Morrisette American Legion Post #124. She served the city of Quincy, as the head clerk with Veterans Services for many years, before retiring in 1990. After her retirement Millie remained active in veteran related service, for the rest of her long life.
