Edward Duwayne Carroll

Honor Mission
Edward Duwayne Carroll, Veteran
US Navy – WWII
Kanosh, Utah – March 9, 2024

About the Mission:

Edward Carroll, with a little white lie, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in April 1941 at the age of 16. He was sent to Pearl Harbor, arriving on December 4th 1941. He was quartered at the Luke field side of Ford Island when the Japanese attacked on December 7th. He was still stationed at Pearl Harbor when the aircraft carrier USS Hornet was loaded with B-25 bombers; the start of the Doolittle Raid.

He flew many missions in his four years of service during WWII. At one point his PBY Catalina was shot down near Guadalcanal. He and 22 of his fellow servicemen had one small raft that fit two people, and they took turns using it. They were missing at sea until they were all rescued 3 days later.

Thank you, Edward Duwayne Carroll, for your service.
