    ABOUT THE MISSION:
    Gordon L. Young, Sr., 69 of Channelview, Texas passed away unexpectedly. Gordon was born in Jackson, Michigan to Fred and Elizabeth Young. Later the family moved to Florida, Gordon would always called Tampa, Florida home.
    Gordon was a loving and hardworking man who did not let anything slow him down. He devoted his life to his community. This first started in 1968, when he joined the United States Army and was sent to Vietnam. While in the Army, he met his wife and they were married on November 12, 1970. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he settled down with his family in Tampa, Florida. He moved his family to Channelview, Texas in 1976. He worked as Channelview ISD bus driver for a few years then moved on to Metro Transit in Houston for the next 34 years. Also during this time, he was part of the Channelview Volunteer Fire Department. He dedicated over 30 years to the CVFD as a firefighter and EMT. After retiring he dedicated himself to his family and his church, Cathedral of Praise.

    He is survived by his wife of 48 years, one son, one daughter, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

    Special Instructions:
    Family is transporting hero in POV. They will be coming in from I-69 at McClain's Store to the VFD 2 blocks away. We will meet VFD from Shepherd at the station and proceed to the cemetery on FM 2666. Ride is approximately 6 miles to cemetery. Cemetery has gravel packed road. Surrounding land is sandy loam.

    We have lost another Great American Hero,

    It is with great sadness that I learned of the loss of this hero. We mourn
    with their family and friends. Though we mourn, we stand tall to honor them.
    This hero's service and sacrifice will not be forgotten. We ask that this hero

Find peace, strength and comfort in the knowledge that your fallen hero gave unselfishly of themselves in order to keep us all free and safe. Your brave warrior will never be forgotten.
