    Honor Mission

    Frank C. Madill, POW/MIA, Veteran
    Kimberly, Wisconsin - 10 Mar 2018

Frank C. Madill, age 94, of Kimberly, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Frank was born in Bay City, Michigan the son of the late Charlie J. and Abbie Madill. During World War II, Frank served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He earned his Navigator's Wings and was commissioned a 2LT at San Marcos, Texas. He flew as the navigator of a B-17 bomber in the 20th Bomb Squad of the 2nd Bomb Group in the 15th Air Force in Italy. During a night mission in December of 1944, the aircraft was shot down by German anti-aircraft. Frank parachuted into northern Croatia, was captured and spent six months as a Prisoner of War; he returned home and finished his college education.

Frank was one of the few remaining of the "Greatest Generation", served our country, survived as a POW and returned home to build America and raise a family he was proud of. Letís show Frank and his family we are proud of him as well. Frank was a member of the Kimberly American Legion Post 60, the Heart of the Valley VFW Post 10544, the National Organization of the American Ex-Prisoners of War and the Disabled American Veterans.
