Rest your head, my weary traveler
this earthly journey is at end.
Leave behind the tears of loved ones,
    Lay your heavy burden down.
Thoughts of you will give us comfort.
You are in our hearts, you are not gone.
And in our time we will join you.
One last farewell, now journey on.

    Gary,
As I type this your urn is sitting on the dresser behind me. When you asked me to carry you on one last ride to the Cemetery last year, I remember laughing and telling you if I were still around when you died, I'd be glad to. Well, Monday will be that day and I'm making good on my promise. Go rest high up on that mountain my Brother, your work her on earth is down. Go to heaven a shoutin', love for the Father and the Son.

    Tu hermano en Cristo,
    Rick

As I sit in Heaven, and watch you every day,
I try to let you know with signs, I never went away.
I hear you when you're laughing, and watch you while you sleep,
I even place my arms around you, to calm you as you weep.
I see you wish the days away, begging to have me home,
So I try to send you signs, so you know you are not alone.
Don't feel guilty that you have life, that was denied to me,
Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see.
So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free,
Then I know with every breath you take, you'll be taking one for me.

I am sure when your loved one got the gates of Heaven he was greeted with: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant’; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
We fought a revolution. We won the revolution. We wrote the Constitution.

***MISSION ACCOMPLISHED*** Today the Patriot Guard Riders honored the service of Gary Ray Pate, United States Navy Veteran, as we Stood Tall and Silent during his funeral, rode with him one last time and stood again at his committal service. The certificate of our appreciation was presented to the family prior to the funeral service.

A very special thanks to the family of Grace Church of Ovilla for showing so much love and demonstrating how we “do life” together. Thanks to Randy and Nicki who provided the flags and water, Dan for coordinating at the Cemetery and to Jenette and Mike for taking the photographs, showing this family the true face of the Patriot Guard Riders, those who so willingly give of themselves and are found standing in the Flag Line.

To Cindy, all of you and Gary’s family and friends, thank you for allowing the Patriot Guard Riders to stand today in honor of this American Veteran. May God comfort all of us in our loss.
