    Mr. Bierbaum was a Second Lieutenant Army veteran. While in service he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (W/4 Campaign Stars), Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, 2 Overseas Service Bars, Expert Badge (Rifle M-16), and Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle M-14).

    He also was a founding member and past president of the Mound City National Cemetery Preservation Committee, co-founder and member of the Pulaski County Ritual Team, former commander of the Louis Phares American Legion Post #178 of Villa Ridge, and lifetime member of Pulaski County Memorial VFW Post #8891.

    My sincere condolences to the friends and family of Clayton Bernard Bierbaum. I did not know him being so far away but reading this obituary, he gave so much to the community. You should be proud. Thank you Mr Bierbaum for your service.
