ABOUT THE MISSION:Cpl Paul C. Buckner USMC 1943 to1945 was in the battle of Tarawa. There were more marine and sailors killed there in 3 days than in the battle for Saipan. He was a volunteer fireman for Baxter Springs for 69 years and a rural postman for 29 years. He was a member of Baxter Springs American Legion Post 206.
