    ABOUT THE MISSION:
The family and the US Army have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the arrival and services of a Hero who was a POW in the Korean War and died in the camps. It will be our honor to do so.

Corporal Clarence Ray Skates proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

"Ray" was assigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.

His date of death is listed as November 30, 1950. He was 19 years old.

His remains were now accounted for and were identified in June of 2017. He will be repatriated to the United States for burial in Riverside National Cemetery. This Hero is finally home, with his family, and on US soil.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to the cemetery, approximately 11 miles. Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on,
and cherished memories never fade because a loved one’s gone.
Those we love can never be more than a thought apart,
for as long as there is memory, they’ll live on in the heart.

As I sit in Heaven, and watch you every day,
I try to let you know with signs, I never went away.
I hear you when you're laughing, and watch you while you sleep,
I even place my arms around you, to calm you as you weep.
I see you wish the days away, begging to have me home,
So I try to send you signs, so you know you are not alone.
Don't feel guilty that you have life, that was denied to me,
Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see.
So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free,
Then I know with every breath you take, you'll be taking one for me.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about the loss of a loved one. My wife and I offer our condolences and pray that your heart and soul find peace and comfort.
