    Edward P. Furlani, Veteran

    USN - WoT

Averill Park, New York - 12 Aug 2017

    ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Edward Peter Furlani has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at his religious funeral services.

Edward “Eddy” Furlani, age 35 of Imperial Beach, CA passed away on Wednesday July 19. 2017. He was born in Albany on February 24, 1982 and resided in Albany, Gilbertsville, PA and Imperial Beach. He graduated from Boyertown, PA High School class of 2000.

Eddy joined the Navy in 2000 with the singular purpose of becoming a Navy SEAL and in 2003 he achieved the first step toward that goal as a proud member of BUD/S graduating Class 245. Petty Officer Furlani went on to complete SEAL Qualification Training (SQT) in 2004 and officially joined the Brotherhood on that unforgettable day all SEALs cherish when a Trident is pinned on their chest for the first time.

Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class (SO2) Furlani’s first challenge as a newly minted Frogman was to join the newly formed SEAL Team SEVEN on its upcoming deployment to the Southern Philippines and Iraq. He and the rest of his CHARLIE Platoon conducted both personal security operations for Iraq’s Vice President as well as numerous direct action combat missions out of Al Anbar Providence’s Habbaniyah Iraq. He selflessly volunteered for additional duty shortly after returning from this first deployment when his skill set was needed for a classified overseas assignment. It was just after returning from this special assignment that he rejoined SEAL Team SEVEN’s CHARLIE Platoon and began training for yet another deployment. He served as CHARLIE platoon’s lead communications Petty Officer and Joint Terminal Air Controller (JTAC) during a seven month Iraq deployment in which he and his platoon conducted 58 direct action combat operations and captured Iraq’s #3 High Value Individual.

Petty Officer Furlani went on to spend three years as a sniper instructor at Naval Special Warfare’s Advance Training Command where he qualified SEALs as snipers and assessed new precision weapons systems. SO2 Furlani also taught advanced urban and open terrain tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP’s) to already combat proven snipers.

Petty Office Furlani’s personal awards over the course of his many years of service include a Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with Combat “V”, and a second Navy Achievement Medal. There is no doubt that many missions succeeded and more than a few SEALs safely returned to their families thanks to SO2 Furlani’s dedication to duty and unwavering commitment to his fellow Frogman.

Special Warfare Operator Second Class Edward Furlani left active duty in 2012 having lived the life of the combat decorated Frogman he had always dreamed of being all those years before. We now honor Eddy’s incredible life of service to our nation and to all those he served alongside.

The Patriot Guard Riders are honored to be able to stand for and render dignity, honor and respect for the life and service of Edward Peter Furlani, United States Navy SEAL.

As I sit in Heaven, and watch you every day,
I try to let you know with signs, I never went away.
I hear you when you're laughing, and watch you while you sleep,
I even place my arms around you, to calm you as you weep.
I see you wish the days away, begging to have me home,
So I try to send you signs, so you know you are not alone.
Don't feel guilty that you have life, that was denied to me,
Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see.
So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free,
Then I know with every breath you take, you'll be taking one for me.

My deep and sincere condolences to you and your family. Words alone cannot ease the pain when grieving the loss of a loved one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:4 states:" And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
We fought a revolution. We won the revolution. We wrote the Constitution.
