Donald William Bruns, Veteran, USN - Jefferson, Wisconsin - 07 Jul 2017

    Donald William Bruns, Veteran

    USN

    Jefferson, Wisconsin - 07 Jul 2017

    ABOUT THE MISSION:

Donald William Bruns was born May 29th, 1932 in a farmhouse outside of Wabasso, Minnesota. While we don’t copy obituaries due to copyright, his daughter wrote this and allowed me to copy it, “He laid his eyes to rest peacefully, June 22nd, 2017 in his farmhouse outside of Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, after gazing one last time at the love of his life, and woke up in the arms of Jesus.”

Don grew up working on a popcorn farm and wiring farm houses with his Dad. That knowledge was put to use in the Navy as an electrician on an ammunition ship. After Don served 4 years in the US Navy he attended MSOE in Milwaukee for 3 years, becoming an Electrical Engineer.

I’m thinking of great Americana today as his daughter wrote, “The last 26 years have been spent with his wife, on their “Rocky Top” farm, perfecting his home-made bread recipe, creating the best kettle corn ever, and hosting Sunday dinners with the family he was so proud of. He was a smart, kind, fair and loyal man, with a sense of humor larger than life. Donald was baptized with the saving faith of Jesus Christ, as an infant but he reconfirmed his faith in our Lord & Savior in 1961 and lived his life always putting God and his family first.” A fitting American Tribute to read today.

His family was excited to hear that we existed and asked if we would join them in celebrating Don’s life.

As I sit in Heaven, and watch you every day,
I try to let you know with signs, I never went away.
I hear you when you're laughing, and watch you while you sleep,
I even place my arms around you, to calm you as you weep.
I see you wish the days away, begging to have me home,
So I try to send you signs, so you know you are not alone.
Don't feel guilty that you have life, that was denied to me,
Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see.
So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free,
Then I know with every breath you take, you'll be taking one for me.
