ABOUT THE MISSION:
We are sad to report the loss of another Vietnam Veteran, Rev. Dr. George R. Pulliam has passed away, his family has requested the PATRIOT GUARD RIDERS help honor and pay respect to him for his dedicated service to our country.
Dr. Pulliam honorably and proudly served in the US Army in Vietnam and was medically discharged due to injuries he received. He retired as a SGT (E-5).
His many awards and citations include the PURPLE HEART, NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, VIETNAM CAMPAIGN MEDAL, VIETNAM SERVICE MEDAL w/2 BRONZE SERVICE STARS, COMBAT INFANTRY BADGE and EXPERT BADGE (M-14).
After his military service, he became an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and received numerous awards for his commitment and service to his community. Dr Pulliam earned a B.A. in Sociology from Lane College, a Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary and a Doctorate of Divinity from Rust College and served many churches over 38 years. He also served on the Board of Trustees of the Tupelo Public School District and many other Tupelo organizations.
US Flags will be mounted in honor of Dr. Pulliam at NL JONES FUNERAL DIRECTORS; 2510 S Gloster St; Tupelo, MS 38801 for friends visitation Friday 21 April 2017 from 12 Noon until 6:00 PM and family only visitation from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
STAGING FOR THE CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE: Saturday 22 April 2017 at 12 Noon at St. PAUL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Christian Life Center; 502 N Spring St; Tupelo, MS 38804, the PGR will provide a silent US Flag line until the beginning of the service at 1:00 PM.
ESCORT: Immediately following the service the PGR will escort Dr. Pulliam to BIG HILL METHODIST CHURCH CEMETERY located off CR 41 and provide a silent US Flag line for the graveside service.
