Melvin D. Bladen, USN, Vietnam - PGR / Port Republic, MD, 18 APR 15

    Melvin D. Bladen, USN,
    Vietnam
    Port Republic, MD.
    18 APR 2015

It is with sadness we learn of the loss of Mel Bladen. Mel was a long time PGR in Maryland, riding many missions through-out the State. Mel served in the Navy as a Radioman from 1961 to 1966. He continued his federal service in the GS 'force', retiring in 1994 from the State Dept. He and his wife had retired to South Carolina where he passed away on Saturday 11 April. He left behind a legacy of service that has continued through to his grandchildren.

Per Mel's wishes, the family has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to pay their respects and honor Mel's service. After he stood for so many, how can we not stand for him?

As I sit in Heaven, and watch you every day,
I try to let you know with signs, I never went away.
I hear you when you're laughing, and watch you while you sleep,
I even place my arms around you, to calm you as you weep.
I see you wish the days away, begging to have me home,
So I try to send you signs, so you know you are not alone.
Don't feel guilty that you have life, that was denied to me,
Heaven is truly beautiful, just you wait and see.
So live your life, laugh again, enjoy yourself, be free,
Then I know with every breath you take, you'll be taking one for me.
