Jack A Despins, USN Veteran, Goose Creek, SC, 04 JAN 14

Jack A Despins, US Navy: Saturday 4 January 2014

The Patriot Guard Riders has been requested to stand in honor of Jack A. Despins. Jack served in the US Navy until his honorable discharge. After his service to our nation, Jack started a career in welding and cross country truck driving. When Jack returned to welding, he became a certified underwater welder. He worked at Detyens shipyard as well as other locations using his trade and certifications. Jack continued to work in welding until a previous work related injury prevented him from doing so. That did not stop Jack from participating in community activities and visiting hospitals, nursing homes, and the Veterans Victory House with his therapy dog “Zippy”. His visits meant a lot to the patients and veterans. Jack was a ham radio operator and a member of several related organizations and clubs. He was able to mobilize his ham radio station which could be activated from a secure location in Cross in the case of civil emergencies or hurricanes. Jack was a member of the Goose Creek Masonic Lodge #401. He was a member of the Dorchester Shriner’s Club. Jack was a close personal friend of our PGR brother Vince Lombardo. Jack is survived by his wife Carol and three daughters; Karen, Teresa, and Nikia.

This is a flag line only mission. Saturday 4 January 2014
    Staging: 1200 (12:00) to 1245 (12:45pm)
