Smolen\, 95\, of Virginia Beach\, VA\, died on 5/27/2020 in the convalescence home where he lived. During WWII he flew more than 35 combat missions over Europe as a Navigator on a B-17 Bomber. After the war\, he opened and successfully operated several Men’s Clothing Stores around the country. After retirement he moved to the VA Beach area to be with family. Mr. Smolen is survived by a loving family and missed by all who knew him. He is to be interred on the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery and PGR has been invited to attend the services.
