K-9 Officer Niko – approx. 10 years of age\, served 6 years with the Fowlerville (MI) Police Department. K-9 Niko\, a Doberman Pinscher\, was born in Hungary in 2009. K-9 Niko was trained and certified as a PNDD at K-9 Working Dogs International in Kansas. He began work as a police K-9 with Sergeant Jeff Soli on September 9\, 2012. Over the next 6 years\, K-9 Niko worked faithfully and diligently. He found several people\, both bad and lost. He kept drugs out of Fowlerville schools and several surrounding schools by doing weekly sweeps. Even though some thought of him to be big and scary\, he bridged the gap between children and the Police by visiting classrooms and being loved by the students. He was an extremely loyal partner\, friend and family member. K-9 Niko was retired in late 2018 due to medical issues. In mid 2019\, K-9 Niko succumbed to illness and passed away. DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nManuel Ruiz Jr.\, Veteran\nANG\nGuadalupe\, California – 09-16-19\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nThe family of Manuel “Rue” Ruiz Jr.\, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their hero\, we are privileged to do so.  Manuel “Rue” Ruiz\, age 57\, was born in Seminole\, Texas in 1961 and came to Santa Maria\, CA in 1966 where he went to school in Santa Maria and also Texas.  He served in the California Army National Guard from 1983 to 1995. He was the ammunition chief for Battery “B”\, 1st Battalion\, 144th Field Artillery in Santa Maria.\nHe worked at the Guadalupe school district for 20 years retiring in 2016. That’s where he got his nick name “Rue”. Manuel was very involved in coaching the Guadalupe kids. He coached the Guadalupe youth football\, basketball\, softball and T-ball throughout the years. He enjoyed watching all sports especially his “Minnesota Vikings”\, he never missed a game and was fortunate enough to see them in Minnesota in 2012. He is survived by his wife of 34 years\, Yolanda and son\, his\, three sister’s\, along with numerous aunts\, uncles\, nieces and nephews.
