He was a Light Weapons Specialist and served as a Combat Infantryman. After he returned home in 1967\, Raymond joined the US Army Reserves. He was the recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge\, National Defense Service Medal\, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal\, The Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars as well as his Rifle Marksmanship Badge.
