The NW Fire Velo team will be pedaling once again to raise money for the R.I.S.E. program. Our riders will travel from Seattle to Colorado Springs\, arriving on September 21st to honor our fallen firefighters at the annual International Association of Fire Fighters\, Fallen Firefighter Memorial. DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nRobert Earl Patterson\, Veteran\nUSA –  GW/ODS\, WoT\nHouston\, Texas – 08-29-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nRobert Earl Patterson\, age 48\, of Galveston\, Texas passed away on Sunday August 18\, 2019. Robert was born June 29\, 1971 in Pasadena\, Texas. Robert graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena\, Texas and joined the Army out of High School. After Basic Training at Fort Knox in Kentucky\, he was based at Fort Hood in Killeen\, Texas. Robert was a M1A1 Abrams Armor Crewman in the 2nd Armored Division (Hell on Wheels) and they were quickly sent to the 1st Gulf War codenamed “Operation Desert Storm” to attach to the Division’s 1st brigade\, known as the “Tiger Brigade” for the war\, providing heavy armor support of the United States Marine Corps forces in their attack into Kuwait. Robert’s Tank was the lead tank at the tip of an arrowhead formation in the first platoon of the first company of the first battalion of all of Tiger Brigade into Kuwait.Robert received several service medals and ribbons: National Defense Service medal\, Army Service ribbon\, Expert badge grenades\, Marksman badge pistol\, Southwest Asia service medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars\, and Kuwait Liberation medal. Hero Tordt enlisted into the US Army in 1956 and served honorably and proudly until retiring in 1977. As of this posting\, we do not have access to our hero’s DD-214 so the details of his service are unavailable. I will share it with the team at the briefing. Following his military service Hero Tordt worked for several auto dealerships\, Prime\, Inc.\, and Stout Realty Co. He also was a member of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine\, Scottish Rite\, Arab Masonic Lodge.
