Pete proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve (1969 – 1975). Pete achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. As an active PGR member\, Ride Captain Pete (also known as Eye-Candy) was in charge of PGR participation at Honor Flights and active in Snowball Express and Wreaths Across America. He is survived by his wife of 49 years\, daughter and son\, granddaughters\, and a great-granddaughter. He was recently interviewed for Patriot of the Month. His family and the Patriot Guard meant everything to Pete. He is well loved and revered and is greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a plumber by trade\, employed by Dundon Plumbing and Heating of Orwell\, and Middlebury College. He was a member of Mount Independence Lodge 10 F & A.M. of Orwell and also a member of the Cairo Shriners. He was also a member of the Middlebury VFW and the Vergennes American Legion. DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nCharles Dan Urbanczyk\, Veteran\nUSMC – Vietnam\nHolly\, Michigan – 08-22-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nThe Family of Charles Dan Urbanczyk\, 73\, (or Charlie as he was known) has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand in honor of his service to our Country. Charlie was born 22 May 1946\, and died at the Saginaw VA Hospital on 8 Aug while in Hospice Care\, after fighting a 10 year battle of health issues related to his Agent Orange exposure while serving in Vietnam. Charlie entered the Marine Corps in March of 1966\, and after training\, was sent to Vietnam as a Rifleman. He was granted a Hardship Discharge after 7 months in Vietnam due to a family emergency at home. Charlie was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal\, the Vietnam Service Medal\, the Vietnam Campaign Medal\, and a Marksman Rifle Badge. Charlie joined the Detroit Police Department in 1971\, and served honorably for 28 years\, retiring in 1999. He was the recipient of a number of Awards and Commendations from the Detroit Police Department as well. After Police retirement\, Charlie and his wife relocated to the Gladwin area\, where he loved to fish and did woodworking. He was also an avid reader. DESCRIPTION:Arlington National Cemetery\nWilliam Hoover Jones\, POW/MIA\, KIA\nUSA – Korea\nArlington\, Virginia – 08-22-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nPFC William Hoover Jones\, 18\, US Army\, Korean War MIA/KIA\, from Nash County\, NC\, was declared dead on 31 Dec 1953.  He was assigned to Company E\, 2nd Battalion\, 24th Infantry Regiment\, 25th Infantry Division.  He was listed as MIA after engaging enemy forces in North Korea on 26 Nov 1950 and he could not be found when his unit made a fighting withdrawal.  After his death\, he was awarded the Purple Heart\, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge\, the Korean Service Medal\, the United Nations Service Medal\, the National Defense Service Medal\, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal. PFC William H. DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nElmer J. Dapron Jr.\, Veteran\nUSMC\, USMCR – WWII\, Korea\nWarrenton\, Missouri – 08-22-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nThe Patriot Guard has been honored by the family of Elmer Dapron\, 94\, by requesting we stand a flag line and escort their loved one to the hallowed grounds of Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Mr. Dapron served our great nation both in WWII and Korea as a U.S.Marine seeing combat on Iwo Jima and in Korea\, the Inchon Landing and Chosin Reservoir. In 1954 Mr Dapron took a contract with a British agency and as a result the Queen of England sent Lord Kitchner to St. Louis to Knight Sir Elmer Dapron. Mr.Dapron was a life member of the Marine Corps League and there will be a formal ceremony at visitation. Mr Dapron attended many PGR Marine funerals including Elrod and Pete where he would shake hands with the flag line. Yeager Airport is graciously providing a hangar for our Heroes and their families to congregate prior to their departure. All members are encouraged to mingle with our Heroes\, thanking them for their service and wishing them God Speed as they prepare to deploy into harm’s way.\n\nRemember\, this is a Federal facility.
