Major Lyon joined the US Army in 1958 to serve his country and finish his education. He Graduated from the University of Hawaii with a medical science degree and earned a masters in microbiology degree from the University of Arizona. Major Lyon served 23 years as a medical officer and served a tour in the Republic of Vietnam where he was exposed to agent orange.  Major Lyon received many awards and commendations while serving his country including a Bronze Star Medal. After his retirement Major Lyon returned to the Augusta GA area where he and his son owned and operated Lyons Trucking Company. DESCRIPTION:Memorial\nVernon Nile Boyce\, Veteran\nUSN\nParkton\, Maryland – 08-10-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nThe MD Patriot Guard is honored to be invited by the family of Seabee Vernon N. Boyce\, 81\, of Freeland MD\, to honor him by standing a flag-line at his Memorial Service at Crossroads Christian Fellowship\, in Parkton\, MD. Seabee Vernon N. Jerry was born on August 21st\, 1946 in Antigo\, WI. Jerry married Sharon Hetzel on October 5\, 1968 and they had just celebrated 50 years of marriage before he passed away. Jerry proudly served our country in the United States Army for from 1967 – 1970 before being honorably discharged. He was stationed in Ft Polk\, LA and Ft Gordon\, GA and was trained as a Field Communication Lineman and qualified as an Expert Rifleman during the Vietnam Era. Medals he received were National Defense Service Medal\, Good Conduct Medal and Expert Rifle.Jerry is the brother of Perry Duchac (wife Amy) who have been PGR members since 2006 and would like to invite the PGR to attend Jerry’s celebration of life. When we arrive riders will quickly dismount and join in presenting a “Gold Star Banner” provided by and on the behalf of the Blue Star Mothers of America Inc. (Treasure Valley Chapter of Boise Idaho).\nFrom the PGR we will also be presenting a “Memory Portrait” created from the parents favorite picture of Kevin.
