DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nJoe Thomas Cox\, Retired\nUSN\, USAF – Korea\, Vietnam\nWest Monroe\, Louisiana – 07-31-19\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nSgt. Joe Thomas Cox was an amazing man. He entered the US Navy in Jan 1947 post WWII.  Serving honorably he was discharged in August 1950. Then with the Korean War escalating he re-entered the service in the US Air Force in January 1951 and served honorably until retiring due to medical reasons in 1969.  He served in two foreign war zones\, Korea and Vietnam where he was decorated many times and received many commendations.  He then returned to the states\, was honorably discharged and began a career in construction as a heavy equipment operator.\nHe leaves a huge family to honor his memories and they have requested the Patriot Guard be there for his service.  We are honored to do so.\n\n\nPRIMARY STAGING DETAILS: 07-31-19 \nStaging Time: 9:00 a.m.\n \nKilpatrick Funeral Homes\n1321 North 7th street\nWest Monroe\, Louisiana 71291\n\n\nRide Captain: \nBuck Harper\, 318-282-1899\n\n\nSpecial Instructions: \nWe will stand for the service then after the service we will escort Sgt. He received several decorations for his service. He went with a platoon of 30 and only four of that group are still around today.  He was a native of Odessa Texas and resident of Houma\, La.  Mr. Minter is survived by his wife\, two sons\, two daughters\, two sisters\, two brothers and nine grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling the world with Carnival Cruise Line. He was also a proud Veteran of the United Military\, Army\, and a founding member of Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter # 630.
