Lawler have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present for his honorable transfer and escort as well as stand a Flag line for his committal ceremony. In November 1950\, Cpl Lawler was a member of Company M\, 3rd Battalion\, 8th Cavalry Regiment\, 1st Cavalry Division. He was reported missing in action on Nov. 2\, 1950\, when his unit was attacked by enemy forces near Unsan\, North Korea. His remains could not be recovered following the attack and he was not reported as a prisoner of war. Dunn has requested the Patriot Guard stand to honor their loved one’s service to our country. It is our honor to do so. Mr. Dunn passed away on July 21\, 2019 in Columbus\, GA. He was 75 years old. Mr. Dunn was a University of Georgia graduate and earned a commission in the US Army through Officer Candidate School. Mr. Dunn was a Vietnam veteran whose awards include the Bronze Star Medal\, the Army Commendation Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. After his Military service Mr. Dunn worked for the Corps of Engineers until his retirement. Mr. Dunn was also an active member of the Harley Owners Group and was a Deacon in his church. This is a special occasion to honor the men and women who took up arms in defense of our great nation and have passed at the VA Medical Center since January 2019. Our mission will be a flag line and provide members as needed to augment the Washington National Guard in providing Military honors during the ceremony. In his second Inaugural Address\, President Lincoln charged Americans to care for those “who shall have borne the battle\,” and for their families and their survivors.
