Billy Joe Butler was born in Kerrville\, Texas on April 13\, 1931 to Gertrude Ann (Holliman) Butler and Charles Drew Butler. Billy died for his Country as a Prisoner of War at Camp Hofong\, North Korea\, Jan 27\, 1951. Billy’s parents received a ‘Battle Casualty Report’ Jan 3\, 1951 reporting PFC Billy Joe Butler as MIA\, however\, it would be November 9\, 1953\, before Billy’s family would be notified of his death and even then\, their son would not be returned home. April 29\, 2019\, the US Army Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Laboratory\, through channels\, contacted Billy’s oldest surviving family member\, a sister. DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nClifford E. ‘Cliff’ Keffer\, Veteran\nUSA USN – WWII\, Korea\nFinksburg\, Maryland – 07-24-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nThe Patriot Guard will honor SSG Clifford E. ‘Cliff’ Keffer\, 95\, of Westminster\, MD.\, by standing a flag-line in his honor at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church\, in Finksburg\, MD.\, on 24 July 2019.  Additionally PGR will accompany SSG Keffer and family to his final resting place at Sandy Mount Cemetery.  Mr. Keffer died on July 20\, 2019 at the Dove House in Westminster\, MD.  He enlisted in the Navy in July of 1942 and volunteered as an armed guard serving aboard Liberty ships manning heavy guns against subs and air attacks.  Armed guards had the highest casualty rate of Navy personnel during WWII.  Mr. Keffer had three liberty ships sunk from beneath him.  Later he was aboard the SS Virginia Dare when it struck a mine off the coast of Tunisia.
