Clayton\, 21\, United States Navy\, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders participate in his Funeral service in Central City. The PGR is requested to lead the procession for our Hero from the Funeral Home to the Cemetery and stand a Flag line for his arrival and during his graveside service. Sailor Gerald Lee Clayton died at Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Oklahoma. The Navy identified his remains last fall and he will be buried near his family at the Central City Cemetery on Friday\, July 5th at 11am. On Dec. 7\, 1941\, Clayton was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma\, which was moored at Ford Island\, Pearl Harbor\, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft. The USS Oklahoma sustained multiple torpedo hits\, which caused it to quickly capsize. DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nRobert William Sturm\, Veteran\nUSA\, USAR –\nGlendale\, Arizona – 07-05-19\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nRobert William Sturm served honorably with the USA and the USAR from 1951 – 1958. He attained the rank of Private SP4 earning the Good Conduct Medal. His primary duty was serving as an Etymologist assigned to Edgewood Arsenal studying whether insects could be used by enemies to transfer diseases to large areas of population. The U.S. Army Chemical Corps conducted classified human subject research at the Edgewood Arsenal facility in Maryland. The purpose was to evaluate the impact of low-dose chemical warfare agents on military personnel and to test protective clothing pharmaceuticals\, and vaccines. A portion of these studies were directed at the feasibility of using insects to transfer diseases to population areas along with psycho-chemical warfare. These studies were grouped under the title of the “Medical Research Volunteer Program”. DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nRichard Lee Herman\, Veteran\nUSAF – Vietnam\nKaty\, Texas – 07-05-19\n\n\n \n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nRichard Lee Herman\, age 72\, of Katy\, TX passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday\, June 28\, 2019 surrounded by family. Mr. Herman was born October 25\, 1946 in St. Louis\, Missouri to Ladislav B. and Mildred L. Herman. His family moved to Houston\, TX during his teenage years where he graduated from San Jacinto Vocational High School in 1965\, training in auto mechanics. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force that summer\, was stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio\, and served a short time in Vietnam until he experienced an injury. He was then assigned to Travis AFB in California\, ultimately reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant and honorably discharged in early 1968. He married the love of his life\, his “brown-eyed girl”\, Christine Annette Palermo on August 4\, 1968.\n\nRichard  Herman was a devoted husband and father\, supporting his family as a career auto mechanic at Pontiac/GMC dealerships. His lifelong passion was riding KTM dirtbikes in motocross\, enduro\, and dual sport events locally and nationally.
