Doc served in the US Army from 13 August 1997 to 12 August 2010. He first served in the Active Army as an 11B Infantryman. He then joined the Oregon Army National Guard and became a 91W Health Care Specialist. He Retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7). During his long years of service Doc earned the Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ 20 year silver device & the M device\, the Army Commendation Medal w/ 2 oak leaf clusters\, the Army Achievement Medal\, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal w/ 5 bronze oak leaf clusters\, the National Defense Service Medal w/ 1 bronze service star\, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal\, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal\, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal\, the Iraq Campaign Medal\, the Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon w/ 2 device\, the Army Service Ribbon\, and a Combat Medical Badge.\n\nDoc leaves behind a wife and 4 children (2 of which are under the age of 10). His death was unexpected.
