DESCRIPTION:Arlington National Cemetery\nNicholas Q. Sheperty\, Active Duty\nUSMC\, ANG – WoT\nArlington\,\, Virginia – 06-18-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nMSG Nicholas (Nick) Q. Sheperty\, 36\, USANG (AD) from Baltimore City\, MD\, died 17 April 2019 in Suffolk\, VA\, after suffering fatal injuries while involved in an airborne operations training exercise. MSG Sheperty was a West Virginia Army National Guard soldier\, assigned to the 2nd Battalion\, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne)\, out of Kingwood\, WVA. He was a respected member of the Green Berets and served as a Senior Weapons Sergeant. Prior to his service with the WVNG\, he served with the USMC Special Operations Command and served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Among his many awards and commendations are the Bronze Star Medal\, Purple Heart\, Meritorious Service Medal\, Navy/Marine Corps Combat Action Ribbon and NATO Medal. Serving his tours in Europe while stationed in Germany he was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. Returning home with his family he started a long career with the paper mill-construction industry. Raising two wonderful sons\, several grandchildren and great- grandchildren he leaves a legacy to be carried on. Wayne loved hunting and fishing but was just as happy watching baseball and working in his garden.
