DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nWilliam R Jefferson Jr.\, Veteran\nUSA\nSparrows Point\, Maryland – 06-11-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nThe Patriot Guard will honor William R. Jefferson Jr.\, 68\, of Ft Howard\, MD\, by escorting him to his final resting place in Garrison Forest Veteran’s Cemetery\, Owings Mills\, MD. and standing a Flag Line during his interment there.  William R. Jefferson Jr.\, died on 31 May 2019 after battling dementia.  He was a Vietnam Era Veteran of the United States Army\, 1966-1968\, serving at Ft. Bragg in the Airborne.  He was the recipient of the National Defense Medal\, and an Expert Rifleman Ribbon.  After his discharge\, he worked as a welder for Bethlehem Steel and eventually went to work for the United States Coast Guard at Curtis Bay\, where he retired. He was an avid HD rider.  He is survived by his wife Mary and a large and loving family. DESCRIPTION:Honor Mission\nJames L. Barret Jr.\, Retired\nUSA – Vietnam\, WoT\nGreenville\, North Carolina – 06-11-19\n\n\n\nABOUT THE MISSION: \nWe have been requested to stand for MSG James L Barrett as he stood for us during his Memorial Service. MSG Barrett retired with 30 years of service to the US Army in 2000\, receiving numerous medals to include the Purple Heart. While in Vietnam\, PFC Barrett was a tank operator and the sole survivor of an attack on his tank\, all his crew including his best friend were killed in the attack and he was severely wounded. He was able to escape capture and fought his way to safety. Robert Lauris Spinks was a World War II veteran who was a machine gunner in the 157th Infantry 45th Division and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was in Anzio\, Italy for 3 months\, pushed towards Rome\, participated in the invasion of southern France. He was wounded and captured in Reipertswiller\, Germany\, after battling from January 13th through 20th 1945. Allied forces lost 5 complete rifle companies in that battle. Survivors were marched 100 miles to Bad Orb\, where he was held as a POW for three months until rescued. There was a book written by Hugh F. Foster about this battle. His family was incorrectly notified of his death during this time of his being held as a POW.
