After high school he joined the United States Army in 1961 and was assigned to Fort Jackson\, SC. He served in the U.S. Army for 25 years until retirement in 1985. After graduating from training\, he was assigned to the Signal Corps and deployed to Munich\, Germany. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. \nLet us stand for this Soldier as he once stood for us\, keep his FLAG FLYING and support his Family on this day. Morgan as well.\nMr. Emerick was born in South Dakota  in 1927 and passed away under Hospice care at Cheyenne VA Medical Center  on August 16. He served the US Army in Korea during WWII. After the  military\, he owned his own truck and auto repair shop in Ft. Morgan for a  number of years. Mr. Emerick was very involved with his church for most  of his life and loved community activities with family and friends. Jerry served his Country in the U.S Navy during the Vietnam War (’62 thru ’66).  Jerry continued to serve his fellow veterans throughout his life\, advocating for services needed by veterans.  Jerry was an active member of AMVETS and Central Valley Vietnam Veterans.  Jerry was respected and loved by all who knew him.
