DESCRIPTION:The fourth Honor Flight from Springfield\, IL\, for 2016 will take place and the Patriot Guard has once again been invited to help Welcome Home these heroes. Veterans from WWII\, Korea\, and Vietnam Wars will return from a long day at our nation’s capitol having visited our War Memorials\, Arlington Cemetery and other national monuments.  The Patriot Guard will stand a flag line to honor these veterans upon their arrival at Springfield Capitol Airport.  Let’s have a great turnout to welcome home our hero’s upon their return. Patriot Guard member Bill Dirksmeyer will be on this flight. \nStaging:  Tuesday\, 16 August 16\nTIme:  2015 hrs (8:15 pm) \nPlace: Abraham Lincoln Capitol Airport\n          Main Terminal Building\n          Springfield\, IL \nPlease use the designated parking lot at the airport that we have been allowed to use for previous Welcome Home flight arrivals.  Ask the attendants (orange vests) for assistance to the parking area\, if you are a first timer.  If you have attended previous flights inform the attendants that you are PGR and they will pass you on through to the parking lot.\n\nSpecial Attention:  For those PGR members coming in from out of town and using Sangamon Ave\, when you reach the intersection of Peoria Rd and Sangamon\, all traffic is routed one way counter clockwise around the IL State Fairgrounds because of the fair. DESCRIPTION:The family of David Perez has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to  accompany their Hero and be present during Military Honors for his service to  his nation.  It will be our privilege to do so. \nDavid was born and grew up in Monterey Park. He passed of kidney cancer at  the age of only 45.\n\nDavid proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was a combat  veteran with enlistment from 1989-1993\, he attained the rank of Lance Corporal  with deployments to the Gulf\, Southwest Asia and Kuwait. David earned many  commendations for his service. \nIn civilian life David was a Correctional Officer at Lompoc  Federal Prison in Santa Barbara.  He was and is a Marine\, fitness was a  must while hiking and running marathons to stay in shape and fit.
