DESCRIPTION:Purple Heart Ceremony\nVeterans Memorial Park\, Tampa\nSunday\, August 7\, 2016\n\n\n\nThe Veterans Memorial Park Committee has honored the Patriot Guard Riders with a request to stand a flag line during a brief Purple Heart Ceremony on Saturday\, August 07.  We will present this flag line as our community honors service men and women who bravely and selflessly served our country.  The Purple Heart\, originally called the Badge of Military Merit\, was first awarded by General George Washington on August 7\, 1782.  August 7 is now celebrated as Purple Heart Day. \nMultiple Purple Heart Recipient Gerard Abbett and Vietnam Veteran Dave Braun will lead this ceremony and raise the Purple Heart flag.  A Proclamation from Governor Scott will be read.  Other details have not been released at this time.  The public is welcome and encouraged to attend\, as Purple Heart Ceremonies will be conducted throughout the country. Every effort possible is made in planning and executing the PGR Mission statement in a manner that minimizes the inherit dangers of riding a motorcycle\, including riding in groups of all sizes and any situation.  While the NCPG\, and it’s riders have a remarkable safety record in the execution of our missions\, infrequently members have been injured in unforeseen accidents.  In an effort to mitigate the risk of preventable accidents\, all attendees who wish to ride in a Patriot Guard motorcycle escort or ride are asked to attend the pre-mission briefing.  It will include a safety briefing\, and any unique ride information known to our RCIC that may be specific to the mission.  Member safety and well-being is always a principal ongoing concern\, our RCIC’s are asked to stand-down from any mission that cannot be accomplished in relative safety or unreasonable risk.  This includes both rides and flag lines in inclement weather and conditions.  It remains each individual PGR member’s responsibility to ride within their own comfort zone and be cognizant of their surroundings and skill limitations as well as any physical needs or limitations.  If the ride and/or mission conditions present challenges beyond your skill\, comfort\, or needs you are expected to exercise good judgment in foregoing any planned participation.

He was also an avid football fan always supporting his hometown team the Chicago Bears. After retiring from there he worked and the Branson Salvation Army for several years then went back to Friendship Freewill Baptist Church as the Assistant Pastor. JJ went to be in the Lord’s Army unexpectedly on 30 Jul 16. \nJeremy  was a Soldier stationed at Fort Campbell\, Ky.\, where he was a  Specialist in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division\, 1st  Brigade Combat Team\, 1st Battalion 327th Infantry. He was a member of  the Above the Rest Fist Team. He did a tour in Helmand Province\,  Afghanistan. He was also a Forward Observer (Fire Support Specialist).  \nServices will be held at Webster County High School\, 1 Highlander Dr.\, Cowen\, WV (http://tinyurl.com/gtpd24q) beginning at 1100 hrs. \nWest Virginia District Captain Randy Rice (440236.rr@gmail.com) is the designated Ride Captain in Charge of this most Honorable mission. \nStaging will be at the high school at 0930 hrs. \nMission brief at 0945 hrs. \nFlag line in place NLT 1000 hrs and maintained until start of services. \nAt  the conclusion of services\, our flag line will be reset as JJ is moved  to the hearse for his final journey.
