Jacob Henry Wykstra has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to show Honor and Respect for Jacob during a short memorial ceremony presentation by the organization “Tribute to Fallen Soldiers”. He enlisted in the Army in May 2013 as an infantryman. He attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning\, Ga. Jacob was then assigned as a rifleman to Company A\, 1st Battalion\, 12th Infantry Regiment\, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team\, 4th Infantry Division. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in January and was assigned to the Area Reaction Force in Kandahar Province. He was killed in an aircraft accident on May 28\, 2014 in Kandahar Province\, Afghanistan. \nHis awards include the Bronze Star Medal\, Army Commendation Medal\, Army Good Conduct Medal\, National Defense Service Medal\, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal\, Army Service Ribbon and the NATO Medal. \nFrom Jacob’s mother: “The organization “Tribute to Fallen Soldiers” does a coast to coast ride\, taking a different route each year\, stopping along the way to visit Gold Star families and pay tribute to our heroes. We will be having the ceremony . . . at 11:00 am on Tuesday\, August 2nd. We have two mowed acres and a 1/8 mile long driveway with a roundabout (lots of room for lots of bikes). I realize this is short notice\, but would appreciate your love and support\, as I have a great love for the honor guard in Colorado who went out of their way to protect\, love and honor our son after his death. DESCRIPTION:The family of Robert Weaver has requested the presence of the  Patriot Guard Riders for services and military honors. It will be our  honor to participate. \nRobert Weaver\, a member of the greatest  generation\, served in the 107th Calvary from 1938 to 1942. He became an  aviation cadet in 1943. He completed transitional training as a fighter  pilot and his overseas assignment was in B24’s as a co-pilot.  He then  went to Australia to fly B24’s. He became a B-24 Liberator pilot and was  shot down over Wadke Island in Indonesia. He flew 39 combat missions.  Bob was commissioned as a Captain in the USAF  in August 1950. He served  two other tours overseas: one in Okinawa and one in France. He returned  from France in 1961\, where he was assigned to Luke Air Force Base and  retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1962. His total service in the military was  27 years. \nWhile in the service of his country Bob was awarded the Air  Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters\, Distinguished Flying Cross and the  Purple Heart. He also received the Air Force Longevity Service Award\,  Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and Good Conduct Medal. \nBob was an  avid motorcyclist. As a member of the Cavalry he traded in his horse  for a motorcycle and patrolled the beaches of California after Pearl  Harbor was bombed. \nHe toured the country with his wife Betty on a Honda  Goldwing.  For his 95th birthday Bob wanted a motorcycle. DESCRIPTION:The family of Allan C. Shepard has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so. \nAllan was born in Los Angeles\, CA in 1932.  He proudly served in the US Air Force 1951 – 1955.  He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant\, was a flight engineer flying on various aircraft\, and also a jet and prop aircraft mechanic.  He served in Korea as a USAF Flight Engineer and Jet Mechanic. \nAllan loved to race Harleys on flat track as a kid\, rode motocross later and his last bike was a Harley FXR.  He and his wife traveled the world after they retired taking her to a lot of places he went as a young man in the Air Force. \nAllan is survived by his wife\, a sister\, 3 sons and 3 grandchildren. \nMikel “Burly” Burroughs\, Retired Colonel\, U.S. Army will ride with the PGR in honor of his close friend Allan. \nNOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
