He began his career as an MP in the U.S. Army\, serving at Fort Polk\, Fort Hood\, and Ansbach\, Germany. He joined the New York National Guard as an AGR soldier in 2007. MSG Brill was the proud recipient of the Bronze Star Medal\, Army Commendation Medal\, Afghanistan Campaign Medal\, Army Good Conduct Medal\, as well as other awards. \nMSG Brill was an avid endurance runner and cyclist\, selected as the Army’s 2006 Male Athlete of the Year. Barry was a member of the All Army Sports Team and All Guard Marathon Team. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 as a member of the New York Stability Transition Team. He was the Battalion Operations NCO for the 104th MP BN. His son wasn’t sure if he’d earned the Vietnam Campaign/Service  medal as the boat was on clandestine missions. \nCharles served 6 years  total in the Navy\, and when he left he joined the police force in  Pocatello\, Idaho as a motorcycle cop. \nHe did that for about a year then  went on to other things. Bell Sr. to stand a flag line for the dignified transfer and to escort Mr. Bell and his family to Sampson National Cemetery for interment with full military honors. \nWhen/Where\nMonday\, July 25th 2016\nAurora\, N.Y. \nMission Narrative: \nMr. Bell was severely injured in Vietnam\, he lost his left leg along with multiple wounds including a bayonet wound to his abdomen. That did not stop him from having a full and active life. Francis was a life member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and the VVA (Vietnam Veterans Association) where he was a Chapter President.
