Portland and attended St. Patrick’s Grade School.  At 16 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps\, then returned to serve in the Navy in 1942.  He served aboard the USS Wilson as a Torpedoman 1C. He was awarded numerous honors and medals\, including the Asiatic–Pacific Campaign Medal w/10 stars\, American Campaign Medal\, Good Conduct Medal\, WWII Victory Medal\, and Philippine Liberation Medal w/2 stars. He also earned the Medal of Valor after jumping overboard to save a fellow sailor’s life. DESCRIPTION:MSgt(R) H. W. “Tim” Timrud\nUS Marine Corps\nNaples\, FL – 15 JUL 16 \n\n\n\nThe family of MSgt(R) H. W. “Tim” Timrud\, US Marine Corps\,  WWII/Korean/Vietnam Veteran\, requests the presence of the Patriot Guard  Riders to Honor their Hero on Friday\, 15 JUL 16. \nMSgt(R)  Timrud joined the Marine Corps directly after the bombing of Pearl  Harbor when he turned 17.  Tim had a very extensive military career\, he  was a machine gunner serving in the Pacific Theater and not only did he  witness the flag-raising at Iwo Jima\, he survived it.  He also received 2  Purple Hearts in 2 wars for wounds received in action along with  numerous other awards and decorations during his service to our  country.  He retired from the USMC in 1966 after 25 years of service and  then joined the State Department’s foreign service. DESCRIPTION:Ignacio “Nash” Ramirez\, 90\nUS Navy WWII Veteran\nMontebello/Rosemead\, CA\n15 JUL 16\n\n\n\nIt is an honor the family of Ignacio “Nash” Ramirez invites the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in their loved ones funeral and military honors. \nIgnacio proudly served in the Navy from 6 AUG 43 until his discharge 4 APR 46\, at the rank of Machinist Mate Second Class.  Ignacio received the Asiatic-Pacific Area with 2 stars\, Philippines Liberation with 1 star and Victory Medal WWII ribbons. \nAfter Ignacio’s discharge he had a successful career as a Real Estate Broker for over 60 years.  He was an avid USC Football fan and loved attending the games. \nIgnacio is survived by his wife of 55 years\, Teresa; one son\, two daughters\, two brothers\, both veterans\, and six grandchildren. \nNote:  This notice is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran.  For those interested all are welcome.  We will accompany the hero and his family from St. Benedict Church to his final resting place.  Please see time table if you would like to participate. DESCRIPTION:PO3 Thomas Nolen Young\, 68\nUS  Coast Guard\, US Navy Reserves\nHarris County Sheriff & Temple Police  Departments\nBelton\, TX\n\n\n\nThe family of US Coast Guard Petty Officer Third Class Thomas Young has  requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the  Funeral Service and Interment of their Loved One. Visitation will be at Crawford-Bowers in Killeen on Thu\, 14 Jul 16  from 1800 to 2000.\n\nThomas was born the only son to Wilfred and Alma Bonner Young in Hempstead\,  Texas on July 13\, 1947\, a 6th generation Texan. He proudly service in the United  States Coast Guard on active duty from 1966 to 1970 where he was a proud Golden  Shell Back Crab and then served for two years in the reserves. In 1973 he joined  the Harris County Sheriff’s Department and rose through the ranks from jailer to  Detective Sergeant in 1978. In 1980 he moved to Belton to be closer to his  wife’s parents and joined the Temple Police Department in 1982. He served in  many capacities from patrol to training. He formed the first Official Honor  Guard and his last 5 years before retirement\, in 2000 he was one of the first  two motorcycle officers for Temple Police Department. He served honorably in the  US Navy Reserves from 1984 to 1991. One of his proudest moments was when he was  Raised in the Masonic Knob Creek Lodge 401 with his uncle by his side. He served  the Lodge faithfully and was Worshipful Master three times. He was recommended  and appointed District Deputy Grand Master for 2001. He received the Golden  Trowel Award in 2006. For all his work as Worshipful Master he represented Knob  Creek at the 1994 Cornerstone Laying for the Capital extension in Austin. He  then gave his time to Shriners International and in 2014 became the Potentate  for Karem Shrine in Waco\, a truly great honor. He was also a member of the Sons  of Confederate Veterans. His love for motorcycles never died and he rode for  S.A.F.E on funeral escorts until his death.
