Joe loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his friends. Joe had a fondness for wildlife and in particular birds. He looked forward to filling his many feeders and watching the variety of birds that would come in to eat. He also had many cats\, deer and turkeys that he would feed. DESCRIPTION:The family of Corporal Matthew Britten Phillips has graciously invited the Patriot Guard Riders to stand with them again in honor of Corporal Matthew Britten Phillips.  Corporal Philips was one of nine soldiers killed in The Battle of Wanat in Afghanistan on July 13th\, 2008.  He was a member of the U.S. Army’s 2nd Platoon. “Chosen Company”\, 2nd Battalion\, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne)\, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. His unit was just days away from the end of a 15 month deployment when they were attacked by the Taliban. \nWhile in the U.S. Army\, Corporal Phillips was the recipient of the Bronze Star medal with one bronze oak leaf. Glen Stewart Collins has requested the Patriot Guard Riders to Stand Tall with Honor\, for their loved one. \nGlen Stewart Collins of Lake Oswego\, Oregon was born in Fort Carson\, Colorado on June 7th\, 1964 to Gerald and Barbara Collins. He travelled the US and overseas while his father was in the Army\, Lt. Collins claimed Norton\, Virginia\, his home. Glen attended J.J. Kelly High School\, in Wise\, Va. He served in multiple US Armed forces including Army\, as a Ranger\, attached to the 2nd Armored Division\, from 1981 to 1984; and Navy from 1985 to 1990 when he worked his way through BUDS Navy Seal Training. Throughout his Navy Seal career he served as an operator\, trainer and chief for multiple SEAL teams. In 2004 he graduated from Troy University with a Masters in Public Administration. \nLt. Collins rose to the rank of Master Chief (E-9) in the enlisted ranks. He graduated college\, applied for OCS\, was commissioned and climbed the ladder to Lieutenant (0-3) as a Naval Officer. \nIn the civilian world\, Mr. Collins was a Protective Security Advisor\, employed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.\nHis greatest joy was participating in triathlons with his son\, Joseph. He also completed a number of races and triathlons including half and full Iron Man and Hood to Coast. \nSome of his decorations include\, but not limited to\, include:\nNavy / Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2); Navy / Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6); Navy Unit Commendation; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Good Conduct Medal (5); National Defense Service Medal (2); Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Southeast Asia Service Medal; Armed Forces Service Medal (2); Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (4); Navy / Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon; NATO Medal; enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS); Special Warfare Insignia (SEAL); Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS); BUDS Training\, Jumpmaster Training and Dignitary Protection. \nLt. DESCRIPTION:Milford “Mel” Frank Naseman\nUnited States Marine Corps\nWWII Veteran\nMember of the Greatest Generation\n\n\n\nThe family of Milford Frank Naseman has requested the Presence of the Arizona Patriot Guard Riders to Honor and Escort their Hero to his final resting place in Lansing Michigan. \nMel Naseman Joined the United States Marine Corps after graduating High School. Mel was a member of the 3rd Marine Division and participated in action across the Pacific Theatre\, He was member of an elite USMC unit called  “Marine Raiders”. The Marine Raiders were elite units established by the United States Marine Corps during World War II to conduct special amphibious light infantry warfare\, particularly in landing in rubber boats and operating behind the lines. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant and received many decorations for his valor including the Silver Star\, two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He belonged to the Third Marine Division Association\, Marine Raider Association\, Purple Heart Society\, Old Breed Detachment\, Marine Corps League\, VFW\, American Legion and Az Semper Fi Vets. He helped found the Marine Corps League in Petoskey\, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife\, Harriet. He is survived by his two sons and his loving niece and “adopted daughter”. Memorial Services and Family Reunion well be held in Lansing\, Michigan July 16\, 2016. DESCRIPTION:Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders the family of George “Glen” Humphreys has requested a PGR Flag Line for the Memorial celebrating the life of this Navy Veteran.  Mr. Humphrey served during the later stages of the Vietnam War aboard the USS King.  The King was a Farragut-class guided missile destroyer.  During the Vietnam era she carried a helicopter and a search and rescue crew.  The Ship’s crew received many commendations for their efforts.  Glen’s body was laid to rest on the coast where he grew up in a small private ceremony.  This Memorial in Goldendale will give local residents and his extended family an opportunity to pay their respects. Ford\, Jr. (Ret) has requested the Patriot Guard to stand a Silent Flag Line for their loved one.  Mr. Ford passed away on 26 June 2016\, at the age of 82.\n\nHe served in the U.S. Army as a transportation office where he commanded 5 different units in Germany during the Cold War.  He also served at Eglin\, Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis then back to Germany.  After Germany\, he had a tour of duty in Vietnam. His awards and commendations are unknown at this time. \nAfter the Army he returned to Mobile and was very active in various Mobile organizations.
