DESCRIPTION:The family of Gilbert (Gib) Benson has requested participation by the Patriot Guard Riders as they lay their father to rest at Riverside National Cemetery. We are pleased and honored to participate.\n\nGilbert was born in February of 1921. He grew up in Marshalltown\, Iowa where he married his childhood sweetheart\, Rosemary in 1940. They would stay together as husband and wife for 71 years!\n\nHe joined the US Navy in 1944\, proudly serving aboard the U.S.S. Kingsbury in Iwo Jima\, among other assignments\, until the war’s end in 1945\, when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Seaman 1st Class.\n \nGilbert worked for a local Marshalltown company after the war and would eventually move to Duarte CA to work as a machinist while raising his family. Upon retirement\, he moved to Ontario CA. He was an avid competitive golfer\, loved singing and “fixing” anything that required problem solving skills.\n\nGilbert is survived and will be missed by his four children.  Gilbert also leaves twelve grandchildren\, twenty six great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.\n\nWe have a slight twist to this mission. Gilbert’s wife of 71 years\, Rosemary passed in December of 2011. DESCRIPTION:The family of Jesse Stewart\, WWII Veteran\, have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany and help give final Honors to their Hero\, It will be our honor to do so. \nJesse was born in San Antonio TX 4/23/1926 and passed 6/4/16 at the age of 90. \nJesse proudly served in the US Navy from 1943-1945 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Seaman 1C V6 with the medals including National Defense\, WWII\, Asiatic Pacific\, American Sea and South Seas. \nIn civilian life he worked 34 yrs and retired from McDonald Douglas. LOVED Vin Scully and Dodger’s baseball. \nHe loved his wife and his family\, liked working in the garage and had a hobby of making windmills for the backyard. \nIn a newspaper article 9/22/44 The Flying Times noted that 7 out of 10 children were in the military at the same time. Jesse was the youngest of 10 children. The ones that were in the Military were Joe\, Jesse\, Raymond\, Ruth\, Thomas\, Antonia and Richard. The article was called “Kelly’s Fighting Families” \nJesse’s wife Amparo passed away 26 hours prior to him. They were married 68 1/2 years. Sweethearts until the end. \nHe is survived by his four children\, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. \nHis wife Amparo Romero Stewart\, was born 6/12/36 and passed 6/3/16 at the age of 80. She was a loving wife\, mother\, grandmother and great grandmother. \nThe service will be held for both husband and wife. We will accompany both coaches to RNC. \nNOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. The PGR will be honored to do so.\n\nAlexia served in the Air Force from June 1949 to August 1952.  She received Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB\, San Antonio\, Texas.  She was then stationed at Lowry AFB\, Denver\, Colorado and received training as a Tabulating Machine Operator. Catellier\, Jr served his country proudly as a member of the US Navy from 1975 to 1986.  He rose to the rank of FC1 – Fire Controlman Petty Officer 1st Class.  His last duty was aboard the USS New Jersey\, BB-62 – Iowa Class Battleship.  He was honorably discharged from the Navy after sustaining service connected injuries. \nHe later married and raised a family. He was a truck driver most of his career recently working with American Service Line.  He and his wife Gaylen owned and operated Frank’s Diner from 2000 to 2005. Frank also served his community as a former Green Island Village Trustee from 2002 to 2005 and a Callman in the Green Island Fire Department from 1999 to 2001. Robert [/FONT][FONT=&amp]entered  into the Army Air Corp in 1949. Soon after\, he transferred into the  USAF. He was stationed in London from approximately 1949 to 1951. He also  served during the Korean War\, stationed in Japan from 1952 to 1954.  During the war\, he worked at a radar installation. After the war\, he was  stationed in the US and joined SAC at Topeka AFB. While there\, he  provided classroom and in-ﬂight training to B-52 crews to maintain  mechanical and electronic systems. He later transferred out of SAC and  moved to Lowry AFB providing technical training on radar-operated ﬁre  control systems. Robert ﬁnally transferred to Grissom AFB in 1963 and  provided training on weapons systems aboard the AC-47 “Puff the Magic  Dragon”. He retired from the USAF in 1969. [/FONT][FONT=&amp]Robert  was awarded the Good Conduct Medal\, Air Force Longevity Medal\, and Air  Force Commendation Medal. Every effort possible is made in planning and executing the PGR Mission statement in a manner that minimizes the inherit dangers of riding a motorcycle\, including riding in groups of all sizes and any situation.  While the NCPG\, and it’s riders have a remarkable safety record in the execution of our missions\, infrequently members have been injured in unforeseen accidents.  In an effort to mitigate the risk of preventable accidents\, all attendees who wish to ride in a Patriot Guard motorcycle escort or ride are asked to attend the pre-mission briefing.  It will include a safety briefing\, and any unique ride information known to our RCIC that may be specific to the mission.  Member safety and well-being is always a principal ongoing concern\, our RCIC’s are asked to stand-down from any mission that cannot be accomplished in relative safety or unreasonable risk.  This includes both rides and flag lines in inclement weather and conditions.  It remains each individual PGR member’s responsibility to ride within their own comfort zone and be cognizant of their surroundings and skill limitations as well as any physical needs or limitations.  If the ride and/or mission conditions present challenges beyond your skill\, comfort\, or needs you are expected to exercise good judgment in foregoing any planned participation.

Possession of firearms on any property under the charge and control of VA is prohibited. DESCRIPTION:The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the Funeral\, Procession and Interment Services for Travis S. Mason on Tuesday\, June 28\, 2016 in Trinidad\, CO. \nTravis was killed on June 18\, 2016 while performing his duties as a Security Guard in Aurora\, CO. He was 24. He served in the United States Marine Corps from February 2012 until February 2016. He leaves behind his wife Samantha and three small children as well as many other family members and friends. \nThe Funeral Service will be held at the Sebastiani Gym\, 206 Animas\, Trinidad\, CO at 10:00 AM. \n8:45 AM – Stage at the Sebastiani Gym parking lot\n9:00 AM – Mission Briefing\n9:15 AM – Form Flag Line at the entrance to the Gym \nThe procession will travel from the Sebastiani Gym to the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery\, 2366 East Main Street. \nWill an available Ride Captain post their availability for the Funeral Service and Procession. Flags will be needed for this Service.\n\nThe Interment Service at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery will begin at approximately 11:15 AM. Following the start of the Funeral Service and at the direction of the Ride Captain\, those not participating in the procession will be able to depart directly for the Cemetery. \n10:30 AM – Stage at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery\, 2366 East Main Street\n10:45 AM – Mission Briefing\n11:00 AM – Form Flag Line at Gravesite \nWill an available Ride Captain please post.
