All specific details and updates have been sent to members directly via their e-mail address on file. \nRegion 5 Patriot Guard Rider Ride Captain\, Mart Kaiser\, has requested the participation of the Patriot Guard Riders in the military honors funeral for his beloved father\, Donald Joseph Kaiser. Another of our “Greatest Generation” heroes has passed on. \nWHEN / WHERE:\nSaturday\, June 25\, 2016 \nTroy\, NY. \nFlag- line for arrival of family and friends\, flag line during calling hours\, followed by Mass of Christian Burial – Flag line for dignified transfer then escort to cemetery. \nLRC:\nBill Schaaf \nABOUT THE MISSION:\nDonald J. Kaiser answered his country’s call to honorable service during World War II. He joined the US Army in the Spring of 1941 and he was initially assigned to the 774th Tank Destroyer Battalion at Ft. Jackson\, SC. The Army eventually re-assigned him to the Medical Unit at Ft. Jackson taking advantage of his civilian experience as an Optician. It was in this capacity that Don was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. \nAfter the war Don did what others of his generation did – returned home to begin raising his family with his wartime bride. He was a Guild Optician in Troy for 35 years eventually retiring in 1979. Donald Kaiser continued his service to the community by being a longtime member and officer of the Raymertown Fire Department. He was also a member of the Lions Club of Troy. As a member of the Class of 1935\, Donald Kaiser was thought to be one of the oldest living alumnus of the Christian Brothers Academy at the time of his death. \nThe Patriot Guard Riders will be privileged to be there for Mart and his family – to render Honor\, Dignity and Respect for the life and service of Donald Joseph Kaiser.
