While the NCPG\, and it’s riders have a remarkable safety record in the execution of our missions\, infrequently members have been injured in unforeseen accidents. In an effort to mitigate the risk of preventable accidents\, all attendees who wish to ride in a Patriot Guard motorcycle escort or ride are asked to attend the pre-mission briefing. It will include a safety briefing\, and any unique ride information known to our RCIC that may be specific to the mission. Member safety and well-being is always a principal ongoing concern\, our RCIC’s are asked to stand-down from any mission that cannot be accomplished in relative safety or unreasonable risk. This includes both rides and flag lines in inclement weather and conditions. It remains each individual PGR member’s responsibility to ride within their own comfort zone and be cognizant of their surroundings and skill limitations as well as any physical needs or limitations. If the ride and/or mission conditions present challenges beyond your skill\, comfort\, or needs you are expected to exercise good judgment in foregoing any planned participation.

Airport\n\n\nWe have been invited to attend the Stars and Stripes Honor Flights again this year. Our next flight is scheduled for Saturday\, June 11\, 2016. I don’t have the numbers on the heroes going on this trip but the schedule is the same as most flights in the past. \nRemember\, this is our opportunity to say thank you to these men and women while they are still with us. So far 3170 of our WWII veterans have made the trip and 1165 of our heroes from the Korean Conflict. As usual\, World War II and Korea veterans and their guardians and medical staff will start arriving at Mitchell Airport at 5:00 am on June 11 and return home at 8:30 p.m. \nThe public is not invited to attend the departure but the PGR are invited to stand a flag line to welcome the veterans and their escorts and assist with getting them and their personal effects from curb to check-in and assisting when they return. \nMorning Departure Itinerary \nStaging\n4:00 a.m. \nAs D concourse is right across from the Harley shop\, we will stage at the top of the escalators\, there are some tables and chairs. \nVeteran’s check-in begins at 5:15 a.m. \nThose standing the flag line should assemble by 4:30 a.m. \nWe should have everyone through by 6:00 a.m. \nEvening Return Itinerary \nStaging 7:30 p.m. same location as above. \nYou’ll have to pay for your own parking unless you’re on 2 wheels. SUMMARY:HOTH
DESCRIPTION:Please note that due to ongoing OPSEC concerns\, mission details are not shown in this posting. All specific details and updates have been sent to members directly via their e-mail address on file.\n\nThe newly formed Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight is proud to announce that their first flight will be taking some 40+ World War II veterans down to Washington D.C. to see the WWII Memorials as well as other national war memorials. \nThe Patriot Guard Riders and other motorcycle organizations are being requested to participate like never before. These World War II heroes will have a motorcycle escort send-off to the Buffalo International Airport. \nWHEN / WHERE:\nSaturday\, June 11th\nBuffalo\, NY\n\nDirections will be provided for short time parking at the Airport near the “Arrivals” area. \nPatriot Guard Riders will dismount and enter Airport “Arrival/Baggage” entrance and set up a flag line around podium for Send-off ceremonies. Once ceremonies are completed\, flag line to be re-established at the escalator going upstairs. At this point a flag holding PGR member will escort the WWII veteran and his guardian up the escalator to the Security. Morning mission completed. \nWELCOME HOME MISSION:\nSaturday\, June 11th\nBuffalo International Airport.\n\nFlag line present to welcome these heroes home as they move thru Airport to their waiting buses.\nMotorcycles will be directed to park at the “Departure” areas of the airport. Details to follow. \nLead Ride Captain for the Day – DON HIGGINS \nABOUT THE MISSION:\nHonor Flight Buffalo began flying World War II veterans to their Washington D.C. memorials in 2009. Over the years hundreds of veterans were treated to a day unlike any other. Treated like the heroes they are – treated like “Rock Stars” everywhere they went. Smiles and memories to last them the rest of their lives. Sadly in early 2016 it was announced that Honor Flight Buffalo wouldn’t be in a position to continue these flights. \nLeatherstocking Honor Flight – Albany\, NY area – has run very successful Honor Flights and it’s leadership and volunteers reached out to the former organizers of Honor Flight Buffalo to see what could be done to make sure the great city of Buffalo would not be without an Honor Flight Hub. LHF was given their blessing to carry on the tradition of Honor Flights out of Buffalo. To that end\, under the mentor-ship of Leatherstocking Honor Flight\, a new organization in Buffalo was established to continue this wonderful experience for our area veterans. \nUnder the oversight and direction of Leatherstocking Honor Flight\, Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight was just recently established and already 40+ passionate and enthusiastic volunteers are actively engaged in breathing new life into this honor flight program. Once the necessary experience has been gained by BNHF volunteers\, LHF personnel will no longer be involved – mentor-ship will cease. By this Fall\, Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight will have organized and funded their own honor flight trip. \nThis June 11th flight will be the first of many for the new Buffalo Niagara Honor Flight and we want to make sure that these veteran heroes have the “Send-Off” and “Welcome Home” they have so richly deserved. As PGR Missions go – this is one that always puts smiles on our faces and feeds our souls. \nSee you there on June 11th.
