Upon his Honorable Discharge he had earned the rank of Sgt. After the military\, he worked in the service department of Ford as well as a private electric company. DESCRIPTION:Alan Richard Mockus\nUSN\, Vietnam\nCanton\, GA\,\n03 JUN 16 \n\n\nAviation Ordnanceman Third Class  Alan Mockus entered the U.S. Navy November 18\, 1965\, and served  honorably until his discharge October 10\, 1969. Petty Officer Mockus was  attached to Fighter Squadron 114 embarked on the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63)  serving in Vietnam. His military awards include the Vietnam Service  Medal with Bronze Star\, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal\, Navy Unit  Commendation\, Presidential Unit Citation\, and National Defense Service  Medal. \nAlan and his wife were Patriot  Guard Riders and participated in numerous missions. Unfortunately\, they  were involved in a tragic motorcycle accident at the Vietnam Veterans  Homecoming Ceremony at the Charlotte Motor Speedway early 2012. Alan  lost his life in the accident and his wife was seriously injured and was  hospitalized for quite some time. Alan was given funeral services in  his home state of Connecticut. His wife has requested the Patriot Guard  Riders stand in honor and respect for Alan during his inurnment service  at the Georgia National Cemetery\, Canton\, GA. DESCRIPTION:Alan Richard Mockus\nUSN\, Vietnam\nCanton\, GA\,\n03 JUN 16\n\n\nAviation Ordnanceman Third Class Alan Mockus entered the U.S. Navy November 18\, 1965\, and served honorably until his discharge October 10\, 1969. Petty Officer Mockus was attached to Fighter Squadron 114 embarked on the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) serving in Vietnam. His military awards include the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star\, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal\, Navy Unit Commendation\, Presidential Unit Citation\, and National Defense Service Medal. \nAlan and his wife were Patriot Guard Riders and participated in numerous missions. Unfortunately\, they were involved in a tragic motorcycle accident at the Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Ceremony at the Charlotte Motor Speedway early 2012. Alan lost his life in the accident and his wife was seriously injured and was hospitalized for quite some time. Alan was given funeral services in his home state of Connecticut. His wife has requested the Patriot Guard Riders stand in honor and respect for Alan during his inurnment service at the Georgia National Cemetery\, Canton\, GA. DESCRIPTION:Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders\, \nWe have been requested to stand a Flag Line in Honor of Nicholas Liristis\, Merchant Marine Veteran of WWII at his Interment Service with Honors. Nick joined the Merchant Marines in 1941. He worked in the engine room as an oiler. Nick had 19 tours meaning 19 different times at sea in harm’s way to bring needed supplies to ships at war. One time his ship was under fire close to shore\, some went ashore to safety and some stayed on board. Nick stayed on board\, they did get hit. He never went into detail of what all happened. In 2013 Nick moved into the Spokane Veteran’s Home. He was not happy and missed his independence but he was well taken care of and made friends with so many other veterans.
