DESCRIPTION:Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders\, we have been invited to stand for Jack R. Wright\, age 94.  Jack was born in Grangeville\, ID and his family moved to Eugene\, OR when he was four years old. He joined the Navy Seabees (Construction Battalion) after Pearl Harbor. He served during WWII from 1942 to 1945 and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E7). Following the war\, Jack returned to Eugene and opened a Cabinet Shop with a fellow Seabee. Jack married Barbara in 1946 and they raised their family in the Eugene/Springfield area for many years. Jack and the family moved to Milwaukie\, OR in 1962 when he joined Guy V. Sweet Co. as an Installer of School Specialty Equipment. He later became self-employed and worked on many notable jobs in the Pacific NW\, including Husky Stadium and the OSU Indoor Practice Facility. He worked until he was 82 years old because his jobs were “More of a Hobby\, than Work.” He also joined the Seabee Reserves and became National Commander of the Seabee Veterans of America bringing the National Convention to Portland in 1974 & 1980. He will be buried with his beloved wife\, Barbara.
