WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA

KICK OFF

SPECIAL CEREMONY

KNOXVILLE, TN

MONDAY, 08 DEC 08

There will be a special ceremony at Bethel Cemetery, 1711 Dandridge Ave., Knoxville, TN 37915

I discovered the existence of this cemetery last year from the caretaker of Knoxville National Cemetery when I asked him where all the Confederate Soldiers were buried. There are roughly 1700+ Confederate Soldiers buried in Bethel Cemetery in one mass grave.

Worcester Wreath Company has been gracious enough to provide us here in Knoxville, a wreath the same size as the wreaths that will be laid at the State Capitals, which will have all the branches of the military on it, but to be honest with you, I don’t think those that are buried there will mind — at least they are not forgotten.

There will be NO STAGING for this event — please arrive at the Cemetery around 11:00-11:30 a.m. as it will start precisely at 12 Noon, the same time the ceremonies at the State Capitals will start. Our speaker for this event will be the director of the Mabry-Hazen House, Calvin Chappelle, and I believe he mentioned something to me about dressing in Civil War attire.

If you have question or comments, you can e-mail me, or you can call me on my cell phone at 865-705-0067 or at home (after 6PM) at 865-673-0298.
