World War I Monument Re-dedication Ceremony – Flag Line

HOTH Mission
World War I Monument Re-dedication Ceremony – Flag Line
Kingman, Arizona – 06-29-19

ABOUT THE MISSION:

The Arizona Military Order Of Devil Dog Charities, will have a re-dedication of the WWI monument that stands in front of the Mohave County Court house in Kingman, AZ. For those who would like to attend there will be a lunch served beginning at 11:00 AM. The monument was first erected in 1928 to honor the sacrifices of those who served in World War I.  The monument is of an American “doughboy”, and a Navy sailor. Between the figures was a Colt 1895 “Potato Digger” machine gun.

In the late ’90’s the monument was vandalized and the machine gun was stolen, also years of over spray of landscape sprinklers has left deposits of alkali and silica on the lower portions of the monument. An effort has been underway to restore the monument to original condition and casting a replacement machine gun, enhanced lighting, and security measures.
