ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of Col Shanks Jr, 95, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders presence as they show their final respects and lay their loved one to rest. Col Shanks Jr faithfully served his country in the U.S. Marines and performed duties as a Pilot. Upon completion of his service, Col Shanks Jr received an Honorable Discharge and during his time in service, awarded the American Campaign Medal, ASIA-PAC Campaign Medal w/4 Stars, WW II Victory Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross w/1 Star, President Unit Citation, Air Medal w/9 Stars, Army Distinguished Unit Badge, National Defense Service Medal w/1 Star,United Nations Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal w/1 Star, Korean Service Medal w/2 Stars, Korean President Unit Citation, Philippine Republic President Unit Citation Badge, Navy Unit Commendation, Letter of Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal w/Palm & Cross of Gallantry, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Stars. Please bring your 3 X 5 American flags and stand in honor and respect for our hero and his family.
