ABOUT THE MISSION:

It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that we lost another Patriot. The Patriot Guard has been invited to stand for another of our nation’s dedicated service members. ET1 William M Weinrich, 30 years old, passed on 5 April 2017 from a non-combat injury while serving our nation. A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted at 0930 hours.

Mission: This will be a two part mission. We will stand a flag line only at part one of the mission. We will escort Petty Officer Weinrich from Virginia Beach, VA to Newton, NC.

Part 2 of the mission will be an escort to Newton, NC. This will be approximately 7 hours long We will ride t South Hill, VA to meet with North Carolina Patriot Guard Riders. Any Virginia riders wishing to terminate may do so here.

Please ensure you bring a photo ID with you. Approximate duration is 3 hours for part one and approximate duration 7 hours for part two.

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required during this mission: long sleeve shirt or jacket, long pants, full-fingered gloves, DOT-Helmet, sturdy, over the ankle shoes/boots, and eye protection.

Base Security is very good to the PGR, We will ride on as a group and ride off as a group. If you can not attend the entire mission, you may consider standing down. Those DoD card holders who need to stay on Base after the mission must ride off with us and can reenter after the mission.

NO WEAPONS ARE PERMITTED ON MILITARY INSTALLATIONS SPECIAL

Please monitor the weather and dress accordingly.

Please ensure all flags are rigged for highway speeds. Flag rigs will be checked at the staging area.

Checking flags does not constitute approval of your mount. Riders are responsible for their flag mount.

Autos: Same protocol as bikes

NOTE: Safety is of our utmost priority. Every effort possible is made in planning and executing the PGR MISSION Statement in a manner that minimizes the inherit dangers of riding a motorcycle, including riding in groups of all sizes and any situation. While the PGR and its riders have a remarkable safety record in the execution of our missions, infrequently members have been injured in unforeseen accidents. In an effort to mitigate the risk of preventable accidents, all attendees who wish to ride in a Patriot Guard motorcycle escort or Honor Mission are asked to attend the pre-mission briefing. It will include a safety briefing and any unique ride information known to our Ride Captain(s) that may be specific to the mission. Member safety and well-being is always a principal ongoing concern. Our Ride Captains are asked to stand down from any mission that cannot be accomplished in relative safety or unreasonable risk. This includes both rides and flag lines in inclement weather and other conditions. It remains each individual PGR member’s responsibility to ride within their own comfort zone and be cognizant of their surroundings and skill limitations as well as any physical needs or limitations. If the ride and/or mission conditions present challenges beyond your skill, comfort, or needs, you are expected to exercise good judgment in foregoing any planned participation.
