Mission Complete: July 5 2019 USAR / OKNG Vietnam Veteran, (Ret) CW4 William (Bill) F. Murphy Jr.
On Friday July 5, 2019 there were 24 Patriot Guard Riders on 20 bikes and 1 cage who attended the mission to Honor the Military Service of CW4 William (Bill) F. Murphy Jr. at Buchanan Funeral home, 8712 N Council Rd. OKC, OK
The funeral home was staked, and the American Flag flew proudly in the light breeze as family and friends arrived.
The briefing was held, followed by a moment of silence for the Blue, Silver & Gold Star families, POWs, MIAs and First Responders. A prayer asking for comfort for the grieving family, a safe mission and protection for our military personnel engaged in the Global War on Terror was also said.
The PGR then stood the Flag Line, with the Army and American Flag by the entry door, and manned the doors as family and friends arrived for the service. When the service started, PGR members returned the flags to the flag vehicle.
At the conclusion of the service, a respect line was formed as the Hero was moved to the coach.
Riders mounted up to accompany the Hero, family and friends to Resurrection Cemetery. Flags were staked at the cemetery. Riders formed a respect line as the Hero was transferred from the Coach to the Bier.
The Army Honor Guard presented a three round volley, played Taps and folded the flag, then presented it to the Hero’s wife.
The ARC thanked the family for inviting the PGR to come honor the military service of their loved one followed by the reading and presentation of a plaque. The RC read the PGR invocation and presented a framed copy to the wife of the Hero, along with a signed copy from the riders at the mission, followed by a salute to the American Flag.
At the conclusion of the service, Flags were returned to the flag vehicle as the RC thanked riders for attending.
Thank you, to all of my fellow Patriot Guard Riders for attending this mission. Your presence gave comfort to the family. Most of all, thank you CW4 William (Bill) F. Murphy Jr. for your service to this great nation. Rest in Peace Sir, your mission is complete, and you will not be forgotten.
Respectfully,
RCIC: Wes “MAC” McAtee
