ABOUT THE MISSION:
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders, we have been invited to honor Sergeant William Chiles. He served proudly in the US Army Air Corps and Air Force from February, 1946 until September, 1947 and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He spent 10 weeks in Weather Observer School and was then assigned overseas to Okinawa. The Sergeant was awarded the WW2 Victory Medal. After his active service, William attended college and received his Mechanical Engineering Degree. He worked in the aerospace industry for many years and enjoyed many outdoor activities. William was 91 years old and his wife of 67 years will be at the service. The Sergeant was a proud veteran and his family has requested that we come out to honor him at his service and interment. 16 intrepid and well-seasoned PGR members participated in this early morning mission to honor Sergeant Chiles. Mission briefing and ride to venue were uneventful. Flag line looked great with all the members holding flags in addition to the 10 static flags we put out. Appropriate military honors were done at the appropriate times. The plaque presentation went well and the Widow was amazed with the wonderfully done plaque she received. Debrief was uneventful. Both RCIT’s and SV’s contributed to the execution of this mission. All were thanked for their efforts and dedication to our mission.
