ABOUT THE MISSION:

William “Bill” Bolaños is a United States Army Veteran. Bill entered active duty on Mar. 8, 1965. Bill served 2 yrs., 11 months, and 17 days, including 1 yr., 6 months, and 27 days of foreign service in Vietnam. Bill’s MOS (Military Occupation Specialty) was 76Y4S – Supply Specialist. Bill served with the United States 5th Special Forces – Green Beret. Bill was 1 of 4 brothers who served in Vietnam at the same time. They are the only 4 to have ever done so. On Feb. 24, 1968, Bill was released from active duty and transferred to the United States Army Reserve. Bill’s last duty assignment was Company D, 5th Special Forces Group, 1st Airborne. On Mar. 7, 1971, having completed his term of obligation, Sergeant Bill Bolaños was honorably discharged. During his service to our country, Bill received the following: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Purple Heart; Soldier’s Medal; Bronze Star Medal.
It is our honor to stand in silent reverence as we show respect and gratitude to this hero for his sacrifices made for this nation.

2:20 PM: Set the flag line for the arrival of our hero
2:30 PM: Military honors
Although all prior Statewide mandates have been lifted at staging locations, we must still adhere to the following:· All members are required to carry a face mask/cloth covering at all times during the mission. There are still partners (funeral homes, cemeteries, churches) that require masks to be worn. There are no exceptions.· If you feel ill or have a temperature, please stay home until you improve.· If, in the past week, you have tested positive for COVID-19, or you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week, immediately notify the State Captain or an Assistant State Captain. · Continue practicing social distancing while standing the flag line, and at the support vehicle. Maintain at least 15 feet separation from all family members, cemetery personnel, Honor Guard, funeral home staff, clergy, etc.· Wash your hands before, during (as practical), and after the mission.· Water will be provided by the flag support person and passed out only by that person. No snacks will be provided by flag support and members should not bring any to share either.
