The family of veteran Wilbur “Punch” Gallup has asked the Patriot Guard to stand in honor of his service to our great country. Wilbur served with the US Army during World War II. He was a member of Darby’s Rangers and participated in the D Day invasion. His unit was tasked with attacking Pointe du Hoc, a 100′ high cliff that separated Utah and Omaha beaches. After taking the position, the Rangers held that ground for two days without reinforcement. Only 90 of the original 225 survived.
