ABOUT THE MISSION:

Mr. Wayne S. Smith served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 3 years where he served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam aboard the USS Oriskany, where he made many lifelong friends. Mr. Smith was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.This is a two-part mission.

Special Instructions:

Briefing: 12:30 PM
After the briefing, we will conduct a flag line at the church for the 1:00 PM visitation and 2:30 PM service.
We will maintain all COVID-19 precautions at the church to include wearing face coverings and maintaining social distancing.
This will be a 6-mile escort with LEO to the cemetery.
If you fly big flags, please check your flag mounts and ensure they are secure.
You must attend the briefing to ride in the escort.
COVID-19: For PGR missions during the coronavirus pandemic we will abide by all rules and regulations set by the CDC and the State of South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Each attendee is responsible for bringing a personal face-covering.
It does not have to be an actual mask; any suitable face covering will be sufficient. In keeping with the requirements of the State of South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs, PGR members will maintain at least a six-foot distance between each other during the briefing and flag line.
We will observe any requirements of the family, and we will maintain a minimum separation of 10 feet from family and guests.

After the service begins, we will stand down the flag line and prepare to escort from the church to:

138 Corley Mill Rd.
Lexington SC for interment.

Meet at the cemetery for a briefing and movement to the grave site as a group.
After the briefing is complete, establish a flag line for the arrival of the procession and maintain throughout the interment service.
