Wayne Edward Sparks, Veteran

ABOUT THE MISSION:

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders, we have been invited to stand for Wayne Edward Sparks, age 93. Wayne served in the US Navy from 28 November 1944 to 15 July 1946. He was Honorably Discharged at the rate of Fireman 1st Class (E3). Wayne served on the USS Rixey (APH-3) and the USS Brooking (APA140). After his discharge, he joined US Marine Corps Reserves. Wayne was activated on 5 August 1950 and served until 1 July 1953 as a 3514 Automotive Serviceman, Corporal (E4). He was one of the “Frozen Chosin” and fought the North Korean Aggression from 21 September 1950 until 2 November 1950. The Communist Chinese attacked starting on 3 November 1950 and he fought back their Aggression until 11 December 1950. Wayne earned many awards and medals, among them are the Korean Service Medal w/2 bronze service stars, the Navy & Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation w/1 bronze service star, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal w/ Asia Clasp, and the World War II Victory Medal. Please join us as we pay our respects and honor his service to our nation.
