ABOUT THE MISSION:

The family of US Army CW4 Counterintelligence Technician, Walter Samuel Gainey Jr. has asked us to stand a flag line at the visitation. It will be our great honor to do so. This will only be for visitation as Mr. Gainey’s final resting place will be in Arlington National Cemetery, where he will reunite with his wife. Mr. Gainey Jr. served in the Air Force for 2 years and then later joined the Army and served for another 36 years. He was the 1st Black man to serve in many high positions in the US Army Intelligence Field and spoke 7 languages. He served in the Korean, Vietnam and Desert Storm wars. Mr. Gainey was awarded the Armed Forces Reserve Medal/Army of Occupation Medal (Army-Air Force)/Army Commendation Medal 3rd OLC/Army Service Medal/Army Superior Unit Award/Bronze Star Medal/Good Conduct Medal 2D/Legion of Merit/Meritorious Service Medal/Meritorious Unit Commendation/National Defense Service Medal 3D/Overseas Service Ribbon w/Num 6/Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation/Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal/Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Service Stars/Expert Marksmanship Badge Rifle/Overseas Service Bar-2/Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge Pistol.
